Luke has long been a passionate advocate for the preservation and restoration of historic sporting venues in Sydney and across Australia. In 2014, Luke stepped down from the Back to Belmore executive committee after almost a decade as our founding President. During his leadership, the organisation succeeded in safeguarding Belmore Sports Ground for future generations of athletes, transforming public perception from doubt and neglect to optimism and renewed purpose.

Belmore Sports Ground's survival and revival owes much to Luke's vision, dedication and tireless advocacy. His trademark combination of passion, tenacity and commitment was recognised in 2014 when he was nominated as a Champion of the West in the Daily Telegraph and NewsLocal's "Fair Go for the West" campaign for his outstanding contribution to local sport through his efforts to secure better sporting facilities.

In July 2017, Luke graciously accepted the role of Patron, in recognition of his remarkable contribution to Back to Belmore. In July 2022, he was unanimously reappointed by the executive committee for a second five-year term. Back to Belmore's achievements today are built on the foundation of Luke's leadership, insight and unwavering dedication. We are deeply grateful for his wisdom and steadfast guidance, which continue to shape Back to Belmore into one of the Canterbury-Bankstown region's most respected and influential community organisations.

As Patron, Luke represents and promotes the interests of Back to Belmore and serves as a vital link between the executive committee and our internal and external stakeholders. He is dedicated to advancing our mission within the wider community with boundless energy and enthusiasm, connecting with people from all walks of life. His work remains a testament to his enduring commitment to Belmore Sports Ground and to creating opportunities for the next generation of aspiring athletes.
