Belmore is gearing up for one of the biggest days on its sporting calendar as the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs return to their spiritual home on Saturday afternoon.
Belmore Sports Ground will host its thirteenth NRL premiership game since 2015 when Cameron Ciraldo's boys in blue and white take on the Gold Coast Titans.
Back to Belmore Patron Luke Brailey said it was great to have such a strong, continued presence in Belmore from the Bulldogs in 2024 with extra chances for young children to see elite players up close in action.
“The cafes and eateries on Burwood Road will be bursting at the seams on Saturday. As well as giving locals the chance to watch first-class sport in their own backyard, and attracting interstate fans, the Round 3 NRL fixture will see Belmore displayed on TV screens right across Australia. This plays a crucial role in attracting visitors, supporting local businesses and providing community engagement benefits,” Mr Brailey said.
“Our future athletes benefit from access to role models and the event will help to keep young players and all footy fans closer to the game they love.”
The premiership fixture is estimated to draw over 15,000 people to Belmore Sports Ground and pump as much as $350,000 into the local economy. Traffic delays are anticipated to begin from Saturday early afternoon in Belmore and surrounds.
