Interview: Back to Belmore President, Luke Brailey

Stan: Luke, hello

Luke: G'day Stan, how are you going?

Stan: Pretty good, Luke.

Luke: That's the way. The last time I spoke to you, I was telling you about my campaign to bring the Bulldogs back to Belmore.

Stan: Oh yes indeedy. Well listen, you sent me in this petition to get the Bulldogs back...

Luke: Yep.

Stan: I'm happy to sign it because I'd like to see the Bulldogs go back to Belmore Oval.

Luke: Thank you, Stan....and recently, I've actually launched a website for my campaign, and so far I've generated a lot of enthusiasm which is positive. I did receive a response from Malcolm Noad

Stan: Yep.

Luke: And he said, "Basically, if you want to continue this campaign that you should focus your attention on Canterbury Council. So evidentally, you can see that there's a bit of buck-passing going on there, he's not really willing to take the blame for what's going on, I mean...

Stan: I guess what Malcolm is saying, though, look, if Canterbury Council won't co-operate and build new grounds and new ammenities and stuff like that, I suppose it's a bit difficult for him to say much.

Luke: I guess, but I think what needs to happen is, the biggest contributor needs to be the leagues club because it does stipulate in the leagues club constitution that they are suppose to assist the football club in any way that they can.

Stan: Yep.

Luke: And recently, they spent something to the tune of $22 million on their own refurbishments and they are one of the most successful...

Stan: Yeah but that's the club, though, isn't it? And the club's there for all the members that use it.

Luke: Yeah, but...

Stan: So that's understandable. Look, I tell you what I'll do. I'll sign this petition to help you.

Luke: Thank you.

Stan: Not a problem at all.

Luke: Excellent.

Stan: So, we've got your address here.

Luke: Thank you.

Stan: All right, and people can go on there and they can show support and all that sort of stuff?

Luke: They'll be able to read the latest news, all correspondence, incoming and outgoing, news articles; they'll also be able to have a look at upcoming events and where they'll be able to sign the petition, ways that they'll be able to get involved with my campaign, and also some statistics and trivia about Belmore Sports Ground.

Stan: Well, you can put your story in there that I've supported you and I've signed the petition.

Luke: Thank you so much, Stan. I really appreciate it.
